**News Release**

Sutherlin School District to offer Summer Food Service Program

Children in Sutherlin and the surrounding areas will have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Sutherlin School District. Various meals and snacks will be served at two different locations this summer beginning June 22nd.

All children ages 18 and under are eligible for the free program. Children do not need to participate in the scheduled activities at the sites to be eligible to participate in the food service program.

Lunch and afternoon snack will be served at the Sutherlin Community Resource Center, 104 E Central, beginning June 22nd thru August 13th, Monday thru Thursday. Lunch will be served from 12:00 to 12:30p.m. An afternoon snack will be served from 4:00 to 4:30 every day that lunch is scheduled.

Breakfast and lunch will be served at West Intermediate School, 531 N. Comstock, beginning June 23rd thru July 30th, Monday thru Thursday. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.

READY! for Kindergarten
READY! for Kindergarten
The Sutherlin School District is offering READY! for Kindergarten classes for parents and caregivers of children ages 4 or 5 who will be entering kindergarten in September. This program shares information about the lively early-learning years before a child enters school, which lay the foundation for all future learning. READY! for Kindergarten teaches parents and caregivers how to “Play with a Purpose” which builds strong minds and relationships. Participants learn activities and receive free materials to make learning at home fun and effective, so each child will enter kindergarten ready!

Oregon SafeSchool Parent Self Registration


 SafeSchools Training is an online compliance management system that allows schools districts across the state of Oregon to easily train staff members on school-related safety issues to demonstrate state and federal compliance with safety mandates.  SafeSchools courses have been authored by nationally renowned experts, and has been endorsed by a number of school boards and superintendent associations nationwide.

As a district parent, you may register to take suggested training for Child Abuse: Identification & Intervention and Sexual Conduct: Staff-to-Student. There are two ways to do this:

Go to the SafeSchools homepage, parent.or.safeschools.com, click “Register” (To the right of the “Sign in” button).  On the next screen you will be prompted to enter the registration key above. Next you will be prompted to enter some basic information, including a username of your choice, which you will use to login to the system moving forward.

Click on or enter the address above into your internet browser, and you will be taken to the registration page where you will enter your basic information, including a username.

 To begin a course, click on the blue title link and follow the prompts. To earn a certificate of completion, you must complete all sections of a course and pass the quiz.
