Sutherlin School District

Good things are happening at SVOA. For each completed class with a passing grade, the SVOA student will receive a $5 gift card to one of the following businesses: Wailani Shave Ice, Nellie's Deli, Smitty's Deli, Dominos, Henry's Donuts, Papa Murphy's, Dollar Tree, Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Subway, Romulo's Dutch Brothers. This promotion will run from October-January. If the SVOA students reach 250 classes completed, there will be a pizza party.

Attention Sutherlin families conference season is always a little confusing. In the fall, our elementary and secondary conferences do not occur at the same time. This creates different days off for our elementary and secondary students. Friday, October 14, 2022- SVOA, middle and high school students do not have school. All East and West students WILL attend school as usual. (secondary in-service day) Thursday, October 20, 2022- SVOA, middle and high school students will have evening conferences. All students in the district attend school as usual. Friday, October 21, 2022 - SVOA, middle and high school students do not have school. Parent conferences will be held in the morning. All East and West students WILL attend school as usual. Friday, November 18, 2022 -East and West students do not have school. SVOA, middle and high school students WILL attend school as usual. Monday-Wednesday, November 21-23 East and West students do not have school. Parent conferences will be scheduled this week. SVOA, middle and high school students will attend school as usual. Wednesday, November 23- will be a half day of school for our secondary students. (typical Friday schedule) We are looking forward to seeing parents and students during the Fall Conferences.

This program will be taught by a facilitator trained to teach this evidence-based program. You will get an incentive for coming and a certificate of completion. The Sutherlin Fire Department provided East Primary first graders with an educational fire department tour. Our first graders learned about fire safety, met our firefighters, and even got to spray the hose! Thank you, Sutherlin Fire Department!

Jim Houseman from Friends of Ford's Pond spoke to SVOA students about the wonderful happenings at Ford's Pond. Mr. Houseman highlighted the variety of jobs and skills required to make Ford's Pond a reality and a success. It was very interesting!
