Stricklin is an Umpqua Valley native, born in Roseburg and raised in Sutherlin. Stricklin has been working for Sutherlin School District since 2009, starting off as a substitute after graduating from WOU. After a few years of doing a job share at Sutherlin High School, Stricklin helped open Sutherlin Valley Online Academy as the Teacher of Records.

Since 2015, Stricklin has served as the Assistant Head Basketball Coach at Sutherlin High School. She has been married since 1998 to her husband Dave. They have one daughter, Taylor, who currently attends Eastern Oregon University playing basketball.
