October 27-31 is Spirit Week at SMS!

In addition to several exciting events during the week, students can participate in the following dress-up days:
- Mon 10/27: Pajama Day
- Tues 10/28: Anything But a Backpack Day
- Wed 10/29: Camo Day
- Thur 10/30: USA Day
- Fri 10/31: Pink Halloween

There will also be a Pink Halloween Dance on Friday, 10/31, at 12:00-1:30 pm in the SMS Activity Center. The cost for admission is $5 or free with student ASB sticker! Food will be available for purchase at the dance. See you there!

Our Unified Soccer students had a great time at their Jamboree at North Eugene High School on Wednesday, October 16! Between our three different Sutherlin teams, they won several games and exhibited amazing sportsmanship!

SMS students met with Mr. Wong for "Bewonging Club" on Wednesday this week! This club meets weekly on Wednesdays during lunch. This time, the focus was Kindness 😊

We are opening up girls basketball to our 6th grade students! This year, the team will consist of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Practices start on Monday, October 20th. Students are required to have a valid physical before they can practice/play. Complete sports registration via FinalForms here - https://search.finalforms.com/

SMS leadership students had the opportunity to visit the University of Oregon campus. The tour included a campus walk, a chance to see dorm rooms and gym facilities, and a tour of the Hayward Field museum. They even got to see "ESPN Game Day" getting set up for the upcoming football game. The students said they learned about all of the programs that a college might offer, and other fun facts such as how to say "Go Ducks" in sign language!

The Middle school football game at Coquille next week has been moved to Thursday, October 16th due to transportation conflicts on the 15th. Game time is still 4:00 pm.

Our MS Volleyball team did great against Coffenberry yesterday!

The B team won their first set, and although they ended up losing the match, it was a hard-fought contest. Good job making them work for it, girls!
The A team won all three sets for a total victory against the Hornets!!

Our next Volleyball game will be at Home on Monday, October 13, vs the Winston Warriors.
