First Grade Families!
Our first graders will be spreading holiday cheer with caroling in downtown Sutherlin on Monday, December 15th, from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. If the weather becomes an issue, we will reschedule to Wednesday, December 17th. A TEAMS notification will be sent on Monday, December 15th, in the morning if plans change.
A few reminders:
All attending adults must be on our approved volunteer list.
Please dress your child warmly—we’ll be walking from East Primary to several local businesses, and it can get chilly.
We look forward to sharing this festive tradition with you!

Mark your calendars for our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 9th, at the Sutherlin High School Gym!
East Primary (PreK-2nd grade)– 5:00 PM
Each grade will perform three songs.
Students will remain seated with their teachers during the performance.
There will be a short intermission afterwards so East families can exit and West families can enter comfortably.
West Intermediate (3rd-5th grade)– 6:00 PM
Each grade will also perform three songs.
Students will remain seated with their teachers during the performance.
Additional Notes:
If you have students at both schools, you may remain in the gym during the transition between school groups.
There are no dress requirements for students—please have them wear something comfortable.

Science exploration in First Grade! In this lesson, students in Mrs. Harris's class investigate why the stars are visible at night but disappear when the Sun comes out during the day. In the activity, Star Projector, students use paper cups and a flashlight to project constellations like the big dipper into a sky picture, and observe what happens to these stars when a flashlight acts as a model of the Sun.
East students made their food drive goal and so Ms. Pike got a pie to the face at today's assembly!

The kids had a blast and it was a wonderful (albeit messy) way to end the week.
Thank you to everyone for donating to the food drive. We were able to provide 15 food baskets to local families!

Boom, Clap, Grab!
Mrs. McCracken's kindergartners are having a blast learning their 3D shapes with this fun, movement-filled game!
Here's how it works:
👏🏻Boom - Tap your knees.
👏🏻Clap - Clap your hands.
👏🏻Grab - Pick up a 3D shape when it's called out!
Each time students hear the name of a shape like sphere, cube, or cone they "grab" that shape from the pile. It's a perfect mix of rhythm, motion, and hands-on learning that keeps everyone smiling and moving while reinforcing shape recognition.

Reminder to Sutherlin Families - In observance of Veterans' Day on Tuesday, November 11, schools will be closed.
In the Sutherlin School District, our school days begin with the Pledge of Allegiance. At East Primary, student leaders have the opportunity to lead the pledge every Wednesday.
